Advantage Community Services believes you will choose us after making an informed decision. The following information consists of questions and answers. We put our answers against any company in North Texas, in fact, ACS challenge you to find a company that has a better record than ours!
How did you (provider) perform on your last program audit?
Advantage Community Services received ZERO deficiencies in 2007, 2008, and 2010! In fact, we have only received 1 deficiency in 4 years. We encourage you to compare us to any other company. We seriously doubt you will find many, if any company that come close to ours (with a consumer base over 50)! A program survey is an annual audit completed by the state to see how/if your HCS program is in compliance with HCS principles (rules).
Have you ever been on vendor hold?
NO!
What is your turnover rate for your staff?
Advantage Community Services has a very high retention rate due to the fact that we pay 100% benefits for our staff. This includes health/dental/life insurance for all of our full time staff. Very few, if any companies can report they pay for 100% benefits for staff.
How does your company maintain consistency with your staff in order to negate staff turnover?
Advantage Community Services does this by hiring people with experience and dedication to the welfare and support of individuals with mental retardation. As an incentive to keep quality staff, ACS pays 100% of health, dental, vision, and life insurance. ACS re-invest its revenues in order to maintain staff consistency.
How many people do your Case Managers get assigned?
It will range on average from 15-35 consumers per Case Manager. New rules that started June 1, 2010 allow for Case Managers/Services Coordinators to have upwards to 45 consumers on his/her caseload. Although it appears to be true that Case Managers will have less work and can handle more people on his/her caseload, we feel quality of care will be sacrificed if we allowed anything over 35. Do not be fooled by a company that indicate they have a 1:10 Case Manager ratio only to find out they only have 10 people in the company/area!
How many cases of abuse and neglect have been confirmed?
Zero since the inception of our company in Waiver Contract Area 3.
Can I have references from family members that are currently with you?
Yes, upon request we will give you three references of families we currently serve.
What do you pay if I want to be a Foster Care Provider for my son/daughter/friend?
Advantage Community Services was the first in Texas that we are aware of that offered 100% of the Medicaid reimbursement direct cost rate. In other words, what the state pays Advantage Community Services, we pay you! We have found a few companies that offer 100% reimbursement, but only after we offered it first. Secondly, most companies built in overhead (middle-management) with monies they took off of the top for Foster Care/Companion Care. In many we understand this has been in the range of 5% to 10% of the Foster Care monies. Advantage Community Services believes we should not be earning our money off of the backs of the people actually providing this service. We challenge any family to compare reimbursement rates regarding our Foster Care/Companion area of HCS.
In conclusion, Advantage Community Services both challenge and encourage you to compare ACS to any other HCS provider Texas. If you want, use these exact same questions and compare other companies to ACS. When everything is said and done, you should be able to draw your own conclusion and make an informed decision.
